The Life litter was a repeat breeding, and we were not planning on keeping a puppy. How silly that idea was! Jim was off work with an injured foot when the Lifers were babies, and the Orange girl made it very clear that she was going to be his dog. At 5 weeks of age she climbed out of the puppy box, up a half-flight of stairs, around the corner and up another half-flight, to sit very proud of herself next to the table where Jim was sitting. He realized right then that she wasn't going anywhere! We named her Sila, which is the Inuit name for the spirit of life.

Jim and Sila have had a great time together, with many accomplishments in agility, though there were many "Sila moments" that only she knows the reasons for.

Sila followed in her mama's footsteps in USDAA agility - she finished her ADCH on 9/16/07 with a Super-Q in Masters Snooker, running first in the class and having to wait out the rest of the runs, just like Raja had over 5 years previously (the same day Sila had finished her AD!). Raja was smiling down on her that day. And just 10 weeks later, she finished her MACH, something her mama couldn't do. We are very proud of her!!

Sue took over handling and training obedience and tracking, and Sila earned her TD on her mama's birthday (5/3/09) and finished her CDX on 7/24/09, and officially retired from competition. She spent her last 4 years stealing Jim's spot on the couch in a split second, making us laugh, and most importantly getting lots of petting and giving lots of kisses. She was healthy to the very end and left us quickly but without pain. We are forever enriched for having this Life Spirit in our lives, and will have her in our hearts forever.
